RAE Bedford and Concorde

RAE Bedford and Concorde

Continues Until June 2020, Free Entry

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the British prototype Concorde 002's maiden flight.

This pioneering flight took place on 9th April 1969 and was the culmination of many years research for the Concorde project. The Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) Bedford was a major contributor to this research through its world-class wind tunnels near Milton Ernest and its airfield at Thurleigh. Their work is now on display to commemorate this incredible achievement and illustrates the evolution of Concorde's design.

Thanks to the Bedford Aeronautical Heritage Group for the information and objects in this display.
