Bawden Archives Session

Friday 24th March 2017

11am -12.30pm (booking essential)

Between 1981 and 1989 Edward Bawden donated the contents of his studio to the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery. The collection of over 3,000 items covers every medium he worked in and includes examples from his student days at the Royal College of Art in the 1920s right up to commissions he received in the 1980s. This session is a chance to have a delve into the archive, seeing works that have never been on display as well as old favourites with an introduction to each by the Keeper of Fine and Decorative Arts.

Deaf BSL (British Sign Language) tour of Picasso & the Masters of Print with Lino Printmaking Workshop – Adult Workshop

Saturday 8th April at The Higgins Bedford

11am – 1.30pm – FREE EVENT

Join Peter and Carla from Access Bedford for this Deaf BSL tour of the current exhibition, Picasso & the Masters of Print. Find out more about the different printing techniques mastered by Picasso and then have a go at making your own linocut print. No previous experience of printmaking necessary. Bring an old shirt to protect your clothes whilst printmaking.

23rd Commemoration of the Genocide Against the Tutsi (Kwibuka 23) in Rwanda

The commemoration of the Rwandan Genocide is an annually organised event by the Rwandan communities and the survivors of the genocide as a day to remember over one million victims who lost their lives during the genocide between 7th April to July 1994.

Urumuri, an association of Rwandan survivors living in the UK, invite you join them in remembrance of those victims and to support the genocide survivors and the Rwandan community.
