Calendar of Events at The Higgins Bedford

 

River Festival 2018

14th & 15th July 2018

The award winning Bedford River Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and promises to be a busy and popular weekend of live entertainment, river events, parade, funfair and fete with activities as diverse as raft races, fireworks, sports, arts and heritage villages.

Take time to pause at The Higgins Bedford and enjoy some calm, quiet time in lovely and inspirational surroundings.

We will be open 11am to 5pm on both Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th, entrance is free.

Free calming crafts for the family to enjoy and opportunity to view the new Harpur Trust schools competition exhibition 'Where is your Happy Place?'

Meet our amazing gardening volunteers and chat about all the hard work they have done to improve our outdoor spaces.

 

You can also find us at St Mary's Gardens in the Culture tent where we will have some crafty rosette making, and other activities to enjoy.

The Higgins Bedford has teamed up with popular local providers to bring you spectacular STEM themed activities for the family every Friday this summer. We’ve got Teaching Talons with their wild animal encounters, Mini Map Makers and fun with Little Science Labs.

Break The Stigma - Art display challenging prejudice and discrimination around mental health


 

The Higgins Bedford celebrated World Mental Health Day on October 10th with the launch of our new mindful art display, created by service users and people with a lived experience of mental health issues. The artwork was created over a series of workshops in partnership with Dr Ben Salmons; Break the Stigma Campaign lead at East London NHS foundation and Damon Poulton; local artist.

 

The art, and creative writing/poetry about the works are on display outside the Settlement Gallery. To see other activities at the Higgins relating to wellbeing click here.

 

The Bedford branch of the Young Archaeologists' Club organises Saturday Archaeology Workshops for 8 - 16 year olds. Take a look here for details of upcoming sessions.
