Anthropology with Katie
Katie Mccraith is studying
Anthropology at the University of Kent. Anthropology is the study
of human biological, physiological characteristics and their
evolution as well as societies.
The focus of this talk will be what we can
learn from skeletal remain. We will look at how to estimate age and
sex of skeletal remains, as well as analysing skeletal

local pottery with the arrival of the Saxons and see how ceramics
develop in the Medieval period.

Medieval to Early modern
Using the pottery in our own collections we
will investigate the transition from the Medieval period to the
dawn of the Industrial world.

Rituals and Beliefs
Using finds from excavations in and around
Bedford we will try to understand the rituals and beliefs held by
people from the Prehistoric to modern day.
