Free Creative Events at The Higgins Bedford
Feel inspired by nature at these free, fun, creative workshops. You can harness the power of the sun with cyanotype prints, spread some joy with beautiful crepe flowers or explore typography and storytelling in the galleries. You can also be amongst the first to try a new murder mystery app mad by Cardboard Clues in ‘Murder at The Museum’.
The events are all free and all brought to The Higgins by local arists and creators. There will be a mixture of bookable and drop-in events, suitable for everyone, from 1 to 100.
The Higgins Bedford is part of Fun Palaces 2024: a free, nationwide campaign for culture at the heart of community and community at the heart of culture.

Murder at The Museum
Be one of the first to experience Murder at the Museum with our free sneak peek of the first of three cases, Mystery Moustache. Explore using the Cardboard Clues App and discover the characters and clues hidden around the museum to piece together the story to solve the crime.

Cyanotypes with Grete Dalum Tilds Book Online
11.15 and repeated at 1.45
Join artist Grete Dalum-Tilds to make beautiful nature powered Cyanotype Prints. Each workshops last an hour and a half. Workshops at 11.15 and 1.45. (Booking available from 20 September)

Judge A Book by its Cover, inspired by Edward Bawden - Art Workshop with Fiona Wilson
FREE Event – Drop-in, no need to book
11am-1.30pm and 2-4pm
Suitable for all ages and inspired by Edward Bawden’s book jackets currently on display in the gallery, this fun and engaging session focuses on illustration, typography and colour. Aiming to tell or suggest the story through visual prompts, we’ll work with line, drawing, text and vibrant colour combinations to design a high impact jacket for your favourite, or a famous, book.
Flower Making with Anne-Marie Abbate

Join Anne-Marie Abbate in this free drop-in activity making beautiful, colourful flowers. Be inspired by nature and create some joy
Fun Palaces is an ongoing national and international campaign, nurturing and supporting the potential and positivity of sharing people’s enthusiasms, passions and skills with their own local community. Fun Palaces has an annual weekend of events each October, although Fun Palaces can also happen at any time of year.
