We're very pleased to welcome you back to The Higgins Bedford
We have several measures in place to help ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience in line with Government and public health guidance.
Please do not visit if you, or anyone in your household, has had any COVID-19 symptoms in the last 14 days.
To help manage the number of people in the museum at any one time, capacity has been reduced and visitors must book a free timed entry ticket in advance here - if you are having difficulty booking online, please ring our Box Office on 01234 718044 (line open Monday-Friday 11am to 3pm) to book tickets.
The Higgins Bedford is a Bedford Borough Council Cultural Service and the Cultural Services Box Office System is shared with Bedford Corn Exchange. If you have an existing account and login set up for booking tickets via the Bedford Corn Exchange website, this can be used to book tickets via The Higgins Bedford website.
If you have not booked online tickets for cultural events delivered by Bedford Borough Council before, you will need to set up a new account. Please see our Privacy Notice for information on how we will manage and use your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
If you are unable to book online, please telephone the Box Office on 01234 718044 and a member of staff will be able to assist. The phone line will be available Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm. Please note that the Box Office in the Harpur Suite, Harpur Square is not currently open for collecting tickets in person.
You will have 30 minutes from the time booked to enter. If you are late you may be asked to wait so visitor capacity can be maintained. You are welcome to explore the museum for as long as you wish.
If you have booked a ticket and are unable to attend, please let us know by emailing email@example.com. Visitor capacity has been reduced and this will help to ensure we can allocate your space to someone else.
Further information about booking tickets can be found in the Terms and Conditions of Booking Free Timed Entry Tickets.
We expect and recommend all visitors to the museum to wear a face covering, except for children under the age of 11 or those who are exempt. Further information is set out in the Government guidance, which can be viewed here.
NHS Test & Trace
From 19 July 2021 it is recommended that venues continue to enable visitors to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app. We have NHS QR code posters on display as well as paper forms for visitors who do not have the app.
If you complete a paper form, we will share your contact information with NHS Test and Trace, in response to an official request, for a period of 21 days from the date of your visit. Information that we provide to NHS Test and Trace for this purpose will only be used where necessary to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Please see our Privacy Notice for information on how we will manage and use your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
One Way System
A one way system is in place with separate entrance and exit routes – please follow signage and the revised floorplan around the building.
Please respect others’ space and maintain distance from people you do not live with during your visit. There are some areas of the building where you may need to pause and wait for others to pass.
Hand Washing and Hand Sanitiser
Hand washing facilities and hand sanitiser are available at locations around the building, including at entrance and exit points.
Customer toilet facilities are open with clear queuing systems and additional cleaning in place. There is no disabled toilet on the first floor.
Lifts are available for anyone with limited mobility, wheelchairs and pushchairs, but will be reduced to one person at a time or people from the same household.
Interactives, toys and information folders about the displays have been removed from the galleries. You will be able to access further information on displays in some galleries by scanning QR codes with your mobile device.
Large print guides for the art exhibition are available from the front desk. These will be quarantined between each use.
The Higgins Shop is open for cash and card payments. Shop only customers do not need to book a timed entry visit.
