We are very pleased to welcome you back to
The Higgins Bedford.
We have introduced several new measures in line with Government and public health guidance to help ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Please do not visit if you, or anyone in your household, has had any COVID-19 symptoms in the last 14 days.
To help manage the number of people in the museum at any one time, capacity has been reduced and visitors must book a free timed entry ticket in advance here.
If you are unable to book online, please telephone the Box Office on 01234 718044 and a member of staff will be able to assist. The phone line will be available Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm. Please note that the Box Office in the Harpur Suite, Harpur Square is not currently open for collecting tickets in person.
You will have 30 minutes from the time booked to enter. If you are late you may be asked to wait so that social distancing can be maintained. You are welcome to explore the museum for as long as you wish.
If you have booked a ticket and are unable to attend, please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Visitor capacity has been reduced and this will help to ensure we can allocate your space to someone else.
By law from 14 September, visitors can only visit in groups of up to 6 people unless you are visiting as a household or support bubble which is larger than 6. When visiting the museum and art gallery please do not socially interact with other visitors from outside your group.
Further information about booking tickets can be found in the Terms and Conditions of Booking Free Timed Entry Tickets.
All visitors to the museum must wear a face covering, except for children under the age of 11 or those who are exempt. Further information is set out in the Government guidance, which can be viewed here.
NHS Test & Trace
When you register to use the Cultural Services Box Office System to book a timed entry ticket, you will be required to enter your contact details.
If you arrive without booking online, you will be asked to either fill out a paper form providing the contact details of one person in your group or scan a QR code using the NHS Covid-19 app.
We will share your contact information with NHS Test and Trace, in response to an official request, for a period of 21 days from the date of your visit. Information that we provide to NHS Test and Trace for this purpose will only be used where necessary to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Please see our Privacy Notice for information on how we will manage and use your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
One Way System
A one way system is in place with separate entrance and exit routes – please follow signage and the revised floorplan around the building.
Please maintain 2 metre social distancing during your visit. There are some areas of the building where you may need to pause and wait for others to pass.
Hand Washing and Hand Sanitiser
Hand washing facilities and hand sanitiser are available at locations around the building, including at entrance and exit points.
Customer toilet facilities are open with clear queuing systems and additional cleaning in place. There is no disabled toilet on the first floor.
Lifts are available for anyone with limited mobility, wheelchairs and pushchairs, but will be reduced to one person at a time or people from the same household.
Interactives, toys and information folders about the displays have been removed from the galleries. You will be able to access further information on displays in some galleries by scanning QR codes with your mobile device.
Large print guides for the art exhibition are available from the front desk. These will be quarantined between uses.
The Higgins Shop is open, please wear a face covering. Shop only customers do not need to book a timed entry visit. At the current time payment will be accepted by card only (the limit for contactless transactions is currently £45).
