Explore the stories of Bedford’s Windrush Generation. This year will mark the 70th anniversary of The Empire Windrush's arrival from the Caribbean to England and to celebrate, The Higgins Bedford will showcase the memories of the people who settled in Britain in 1948 and after.

This exhibition will highlight their journey to Britain, where they settled, and their employment opportunities, presenting a narrative of the challenges they faced and the contributions they made to Bedford.

The museum has collaborated with The Higgins Black History Panel, The University of Hertfordshire, Nubian Teachings, The Retired Caribbean Nurses Association of Bedford and members of the public to collect the stories, artefacts, and photographs presented in this exhibition.
